  • Vintage Banana Stand, Milk Glass, Doric pattern by Westmoreland (Lacy Edge / Open Lace), Depression Glass, White Pedestal Bowl, Fruit Storage / Holder, Kitchen Counter Decor / Display, Kitchen Accessories, Cottagecore, Country Farmhouse Style, (Discontinued)
  • Made in USA
  • Vintage: 1947
  • Details:  A very beautiful milk glass piece from Westmoreland in their Doric pattern, aka Lacy Edge, or Open Lace.  This piece is called a Banana Stand but really works well to hold other fruits.  Westmoreland is known for high quality milk glass and this piece is no exception.  The company introduced this pattern in the 1940's, the lacy edge look became very popular, many pieces were produced in this pattern. The stand is very beautiful in it's own right, so it does not necessarily need to stay in the kitchen, it will look great as part of a vignette or display.  This is a very heavy item, it will need lots of packaging to arrive safely, please keep this in mind at check-out.
  • Material:  Milk Glass
  • Dimensions:  8.5 inches Tall, 11.75 inches Long and 6.4 inches Wide.
  • Condition: Vintage - Used.  Excellent Condition.  There are no scratches, chips, cracks or crazing on this piece.  Please review all pictures and make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns.  Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are NOT new, every effort has been made to show scratches, wear and tear and imperfections.

Westmoreland Glass Company's history goes back to the 1800's as the Specialty Glass Company in East Liverpool, Ohio.   When the company moved to Grapeville, Pennsylvania in 1889, they changed the name to Westmoreland Specialty Company manufacturing a variety of glass containers.  In the 1920's they made their first milk glass and it proved to be the most important product they ever made, they became known as the best quality milk glass manufacturer.   So much so that in 1923 the company name was changed to Westmoreland Glass Company to differentiate it from the glass container business.  Some of their best known patterns came later like: Paneled Grape, Beaded Grape, Old Quilt, and Roses and Bows.  So loved was Milk Glass from Westmorland that 90 percent of the glass produced from the 1920's through the 1950's was Milk Glass.   They also made high quality glass and crystal like the much loved "hen on nest" dishes made in clear glass as well as milk glass and later in the 1950's they were made in amber, blue, green, pink, and brown.  Unfortunately in May of 1984 the company closed its doors and never reached their 100 years anniversary.
